Tearstain and Willow - Character Revamp

Wow, so. I haven't drawn wolves (or anything resembling a canine) in ages. Who here remembers Tearstain and Willow? No one? Probably not like this, but they are characters that I have frequently drawn in the past. I thought they would be a good starting place to begin a massive overhaul of my characters. A lot of them need some design upgrades and my dire wolves are good candidates as they still have the same designs from when I was an awkward tween who didn't know what they were doing.
Now I didn't want to necessarily scrap their original looks entirely as I still like their concepts, and I don't like making things too complicated, so I'm trying to find a happy middle ground.
I was going to upload the whole pack in a bunch, but decided, since they were taking so long to finish because I was fiddling with the colors and designs, to post them in pairs. So... We're starting with the alpha male, Tearstain (top), and his mate Willow (bottom).

These are actually two different images, but I just spliced them together so I didn't have to upload them individually :d. Also having trouble with getting my scanner to process the colors correctly, so I did what I could in photoshop but... you know how it goes.
